CLIN 2502  Second Year Fall Clinic  (2 Credits)  
Students will have experiences with virtual patients, community rotation, providing anesthesia, and working in a mentored environment within their assigned group practice. Students will begin actual treatment of patients as they are assigned appropriate clinical cases. Pass/Fail
CLIN 2503  Second Year Spring/Summer Clinic  (2 Credits)  
In this course students are expected to gain experience and knowledge in electronic patient record (EPR), infection control, diagnosis and treatment planning, radiology, periodontics, anesthesia, and operative dentistry. 0-100 (DENT) Begin 2001D
CLIN 3001  Pediatric Dentistry Clinic  (2 Credits)  
This clinic course prepares dental students to render dental treatment to pediatric dental patients. Students learn to perform a comprehensive oral examination using all the necessary diagnostic tools to evaluate the dental needs of the pediatric or mixed dentition patient to develop a thorough, comprehensive treatment plan. Students learn to recognize the need for and management of space maintainers. 0-100 (DENT) Begin 2001D
CLIN 3003  Radiology Clinic  (1 Credit)  
This clinical course affords students the opportunity to integrate principles of preclinical training into the diagnostic process. Students utilize various types of radiographic surveys for their patient evaluations, including the full mouth survey (FMS), partial FMS evaluations, and panoramic evaluations. 0-100 (DENT) Begin 2001D
CLIN 3005  Prosthodontics Clinic  (6 Credits)  
This clinical course introduces students to the clinical aspects of delivering patient care in the specialty of prosthodontics. It is designed to provide the student the opportunity to use critical thinking skills by utilizing information learned in basic sciences, clinical disciplines, and pre-clinical laboratories to treat patients in a clinical setting. Students should develop the necessary skills for gathering diagnostic information, developing a sequential treatment plan, and performing prosthodontic procedures using sound clinical judgment. 0-100 (DENT) Begin 2001D
CLIN 3007  Oral Surgery Clinic  (2 Credits)  
This clinical course introduces students to clinical oral surgery, which includes patient evaluation, diagnosis, treatment planning, and routine oral surgery procedures commonly employed in general dental practice. Students learn the principles of aseptic technique and infection control in preparing the surgical team, the patient, and the surgical cubicle for oral surgery procedures. Students develop skills in performing uncomplicated extractions, multiple extractions, alveoloplasty procedures, and routine suturing techniques. 0-100 (DENT) Begin 2001D
CLIN 3011  Orthodontics Clinic  (0.5 Credits)  
This clinical course introduces students to the practice of clinical orthodontics. The primary goal of this experience is to reinforce didactic concepts taught in the second year and build upon them in a manner that will better prepare the student to recognize, communicate, and manage orthodontic problems in the general dentistry setting. 0-100 (DENT) Begin 2001D
CLIN 3013  Urgent Care Clinic  (1 Credit)  
This clinical rotation provides students with an opportunity to manage dental emergencies appropriately, and diagnose, stabilize, and refer patients to dental specialists when the appropriate care demands their expertise. Pass/Fail, F not in GPA
CLIN 3016  Clinical Simulation I  (1 Credit)  
This course provides dental students with opportunities for integration and application of theoretical, evidence-based, and clinical knowledge to the individual's practice of dentistry in a controlled, student-centered environment. 0-100 (DENT) Begin 2001D
CLIN 3017  Diagnosis and Treatment Planning Clinic  (3 Credits)  
This clinic course allows students to gain competence in evaluating a patient's dental needs, determining the complexity of those needs, and recognize and gather baseline/diagnostic information. Competence will also be gained in the use of specialty consultations. The treatment plan is an essential process for the modern, successful dental practice. 0-100 (DENT) Begin 2001D
CLIN 4001  Pediatric Dentistry Clinic  (2 Credits)  
This clinic course prepares students to render dental treatment to pediatric dental patients. Students learn to perform a comprehensive oral examination using all the necessary diagnostic tools to evaluate the dental needs of the pediatric or mixed dentition patient to develop a thorough, comprehensive treatment plan. This course teaches students to be competent in operative dental procedures modified for use with primary and young permanent teeth, including the administration of local anesthesia and pain control. 0-100 (DENT) Begin 2001D
CLIN 4002  Endodontics Clinic  (3 Credits)  
This two-year clinical course begins in the third year, and enables students to become competent endodontic practitioners by integrating pre-clinical principles and techniques into clinical patient treatment. Quality endodontic patient treatment requires that a practitioner possess and applies basic sciences knowledge in pharmacology, physiology, microbiology and immunology into the various technical aspects of treatment. 0-100 (DENT) Begin 2001D

CLIN 4004  Special Patient Care Clinic  (1 Credit)  
The goal of this Special Patient Clinic course, of which Dental Auxiliary Utilization is a component, provides students with an opportunity to deliver treatment to medically compromised, physically handicapped, mentally challenged, and/or geriatric patients. This course is intended to create awareness in students of the dental needs of communities and community health programs. Pass/Fail

CLIN 4006  Operative Dentistry Clinic  (8 Credits)  
This two-year clinical course begins in the third year and allows students to continue to develop and refine their knowledge necessary to properly diagnose, establish a treatment plan, and perform a variety of procedures with appropriate materials, or manage the patient's care in the context of comprehensive care. 0-100 (DENT) Begin 2001D
CLIN 4007  Oral Surgery Clinic  (1 Credit)  
This clinical course reinforces basic skills learned in the third-year oral surgery clinical course and facilitates continued development as the student performs routine, oral surgery procedures commonly employed in general dental practice. Areas of emphasis will be physical evaluation and assessment, principles of aseptic technique and infection control, uncomplicated exodontia, multiple extractions, complicated exodontia, and routine pre-prosthetic surgical procedures. 0-100 (DENT) Begin 2001D
CLIN 4008  Periodontics Clinic  (6 Credits)  
This two-year clinical course begins in the third year and focuses on the application of knowledge gained in the didactic study of Periodontics. Students perform a clinical and radiographic examination and diagnose periodontal diseases. Students formulate a sequenced treatment plan and establish a prognosis for patients with gingivitis through moderately advanced periodontitis by integrating periodontics into a total dental and oral preventive approach. 0-100 (DENT) Begin 2001D

CLIN 4014  Clinical Practice II  (6 Credits)  
This two-year clinical course that begins in the third year allows students the opportunity to refine the skills and knowledge needed to properly diagnose, treatment plan, and manage and provide patient treatment in an environment that closely approximates a private practice setting. Students learn the technical skills and knowledge required of a graduated, licensed dental practitioner. Students must also demonstrate competence in behavioral and patient management skills. 0-100 (DENT) Begin 2001D
CLIN 4016  Clinical Simulation II  (0.5 Credits)  
This course will provide students with opportunities for the integration and application of theoretical, evidence-based, and clinical knowledge to discipline-specific treatment experiences, reinforcing previously learned ethical and patient management skills. Pass/Fail
