26-Month Program
The Advanced Education Program in Orthodontics is an academically intense 26-month Advanced Education Program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation of the American Dental Association. It leads to a Specialty Certificate in Orthodontics award and an optional Master of Science in Dentistry degree. Award of the Certificate requires completion of 86 semester hours, and a Master of Science degree requires 88 semester hours of formal courses.

Master of Science in Dentistry Degree only
Research/Thesis
Candidates for the Master of Science in Dentistry Degree must complete an original research project, write the thesis, and submit a publishable research version to the Department.
Candidates for the certificate in orthodontics must complete a research project and submit a publishable version of the Department's research activity.
The program director publishes semester schedules.
The Program Director completes satisfactory written and oral progress evaluations quarterly after consultation with the appropriate faculty.
