Required fees include fees assessed by the university (charged to students at all UTHealth Houston schools) and fees that are school specific (charged to students by program and/or course-lab fees).

For a listing of required fees and course fees please refer to the Office of the Bursar Tuition and Fee website here.

Academic Regalia: The charge for the regalia (cap and gown) is approximately $44 for undergraduate students to purchase, $82 for master’s students to purchase, and $85 for doctoral students to rent.

Graduation Fee: A graduation fee of $150 is payable at registration for the student’s final semester. This fee covers expenses associated with graduation but does not cover rental of the cap and gown. This fee is charged whether or not the student attends graduation.

Liability Insurance: All nursing students will be required to pay liability insurance fee regardless of other coverage the student may have. Upon registration, nurse practitioner (undergraduate and graduate program) students will be assessed $32/Fall, $32/Spring, and $21/Summer, and all other students will be assessed $14.50 per year ($5.25/Fall, $5.25/Spring and $4.00/Summer) for liability insurance. Nurse anesthesia students will be directed in the purchase of anesthesia-specific liability insurance by the nurse anesthesia program prior to the clinical phase of the program. Graduate students who are members of the US Armed Forces on active military duty have professional liability coverage through their branch of service and will not be assessed this fee. Students who enroll mid-year will be charged a prorated amount. Liability insurance fees are nonrefundable and are subject to change without notice.

Other Expenses: Cost of books per semester is approximately $950. This amount varies per program. A Cizik School of Nursing student is not under any obligation to purchase a textbook from a university- affiliated bookstore. The same textbook may also be available from an independent retailer, including an online retailer. Undergraduate students will also need to purchase uniforms, lab coats, shoes, name pins, and identification insignia.
